The United States is home to 314 million people; studies have shown that of those 314 million American citizens 0.5% are addicted to Cocaine, 9% are addicted to Marijuana, 15% are addicted to Alcohol, 23% are addicted to Heroin and 32% are addicted to Nicotine.
At 32% Nicotine has the highest percent addiction
rate. The following interviews focus on the lives of three smokers. The first
is a recent smoker, the second is a social smoker and the third is a chronic
smoker. All three were asked six standard
questions relating to their smoking habits as well as their opinions on their
personal Nicotine addiction.

Colleges
around the nation are beginning to see an illegal drug and
prescription abuse on campus more frequently than before. These
drugs- not including alcohol- are becoming prevalent in social and
academic settings. According to The
Daily Beast, the top 30 “druggiest”
colleges and universities in the United States from 2011 to 2012 are
categorized by enrollment, on campus drug arrests, drug safety grade
and then compared to the regular drug use of people ages 18 through
25 statewide. The results are as follows:
